When someone dies, we have a choice. We can either mourn their passing or celebrate their life. There are more and more people who are moving toward the celebration of life. This call for something a little different and you need to be creative with your funeral ideas.
Rather than just have a casket and flowers, why not enjoy the funeral and do it up the way the person would have wanted. Those who are still alive can make things easier on loved ones by designing their own funeral and adding it to their will so everything will be clear.
The casket is a very important part of most funerary services, but you don't have to stick to a plain old box. In fact, you can choose creative caskets that are designed to look like something the person enjoyed in life. A bird watcher might enjoy a giant hummingbird casket, for example. There are plenty of choices here, but whatever you choose, be sure to allow some time for a custom box to be built.
It is often possible to display the body, though this is traditionally done in the casket. While it's possible to do this, why not add a little interest? You can find funeral homes where the body can be displayed as it would be in life. This includes places in Mexico where the dead have been seated on motorbikes for their own funeral, or stood in a corner.
Choose music that would have been perfect for the dead. Rather than flowers, choose donations to a favorite charity. You can also adjust the food. Serve the person's favorite foods and think back on their memory. A child's funeral might include cake and ice cream, for example.
When it comes time to say goodbye, be creative with your funeral ideas and enjoy life. It's the only one we get.
