The owners, managers and supervisors of companies know that a show of appreciation is much needed among the workers in a workplace. Some employees do not try to do a good job at all and have a terrible attitude. Others try the best that they can and it shows. Appreciation plaques are the perfect way to show your thanks for a job well done.

Praise is an important part of the workplace, and owners, managers and supervisors should learn what this means to the workers under them. Some managers do not show praise because they never received it themselves. But they must rise above this.

If you show that you appreciate what a worker has done, he will try harder. He will produce even more. He knows that he has been recognized, and maybe that is all he ever wanted. You may need to get more plaques, but it will be worth it. This employee will make the department you head and the company itself look very good, because of his production.

There are seminars that teach that some sort of praise in the workplace is better than raises in salaries. Money will always be the thing that the worker will say they desire most. They really think that it is the most important thing and the reason that they work in the first place. And raises should, of course, be given at certain intervals. But the act of praising someone for doing the job right, doing it well, and being there to do it, lasts far longer than a percentage raise.

Money is so fleeting. If you give a raise, that extra money in their paychecks is spent so quickly. They feel like they deserve it, and they do. So they go out to dinner and blow the extra, or use it for something else. Whatever they use it for, it is used up. And that Monday they need to start again to get some extra money, which will also slip through the fingers. A tangible gift of appreciation is something they can keep.

It could be a certificate, a plaque, or even a trophy of sorts. And it will be for doing something better than the other employees. It can even be for never being late, or having the least amount of absences. Some absences cannot be avoided, but some employees really take advantage of this fact and stay out of work more often than they should. They ones who are always there should surely be rewarded.

As a supervisor or manager, you will be able to name quite a few opportunities for giving a special plaque to certain employees. If someone is good at something, or works harder than the others, he should be rewarded for it. The plaque can be taken home to show family members, so that they, too, can be proud of him. And whether it is stuffed in a drawer, or placed on a wall for others to see, he can feel good about himself and a job well done.

A luncheon for everyone might also be a good idea. It will show the other employees that when you present appreciation plaques, they are for employees that care. And this could rub off on the others.
